Video Sneak Peek: Cypress Hill, Featuring Pitbull, ‘Armada Latina’

Back in the day when Cypress Hill's "How I Could Just Kill A Man" was booming out of car stereos everywhere you went, if you'd told me that in 2010 we'd have little tablets to watch movies on at the same time that the same Cypress Hill would be making lady-friendly songs with Pitbull AND that Cyprus Hill would be sampling Crosby, Stills & Nash, I would've a) been taken aback by the specificity of your prognostications and b) not believed you.

But here we are, 2010 and Cypress Hill's back with "Armada Latina," the first single from their eighth album, Rise Up. The cut features the man who popularized "Hotel Room Service," as well as some doo-doo-doo-doo-do's from classic rockers CS&N.

Enjoy a preview of Cypress Hill's "Armada Latina" video, featuring Pitbull, below. The "Armada Latina" video premieres on MTV and MTV.com tomorrow. And while you're at it, get a little insane in the membrane for good measure.

M.I.A. Lays The Smack Down On Lady Gaga, Ke$ha And Twilight

(Lady Gaga Photo Credit: Vanity Fair Italy)

Just because M.I.A. been quiet musically doesn't mean she ain't got her opinions. And in a recent interview with the NME she shared some of them; dissing "Twilight," Ke$ha and Lady Gaga and killing all of our dreams in the process.

According to M.I.A., Gaga pimps the system. The fiercely political, politically active singer may have "sold out" in the past, but according to the "Paper Planes" pilot, it's always for a good cause. When she gets a fee to play a corporate show (even one for MTV), she claims the proceeds go towards, "building a school in Africa."

So she's got no time for what she sees as Gaga's brazen commercialization of her music, especially in the video for "Telephone."Are they even interested in making money from music anymore? Lady Gaga plugs 15 things in her new video. Dude, she even plugs a burger."

M.I.A's no fan of Gaga's music either: "None of her music's reflective of how weird she wants to be or thinks she is. She models herself on Grace Jones and Madonna, but the music sounds like 20-year-old Ibiza music... But she’s a good mimic. She sounds more like me than I f++++++g do!"

On the top of Ke$ha, M.I.A. makes the oft-made assertion that the "Tik Tok" singer has been biting the style of hipster-dance princess Uffie.

M.I.A. saves her last dart for the the "Twilight" franchise, claiming she dodged the bullet of having to contribute to the soundtrack when label boss Jimmy Iovine intervened and spared her from the chore. Who knew contributing to soundtracks was such a tough gig?

Interesting points all around. You can check out the transcript of the chat here. But it's really nice out and we'd rather ride out to the below video for "Boyz."

Song You Need To Know: Hanson, ‘Thinkin’ ‘Bout Somethin”

Before there were Jonas Brothers, there was Hanson. These dudes (brothers Zac, Taylor and Isaac) were the O.G.'s; cuter than puppies playing in a pile of pink cotton candy, with their soulful, bubblegum pop-rock that made us all say "MMMBop," whether we wanted to or not.

Now Hanson are all grown up. They've dropped the whole Summer camp counselor wardrobe thing and polished up their look; but their sound remains a classic one.

"Thinkin' 'Bout Somethin'" is the first single from their upcoming album, Shout It Out Loud. With it's joyous horns, lovely harmonies and cowbell-infused beat, it recalls the undeniable beauty of classic Stevie Wonder singles like, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and "Sugar."

Check out "Thinkin' Bout' Somethin'" below. Shout It Out Loud is due out June 8th.

New Video: Sky Ferreira, ’17′

Spotted over at Idolator, we bring you this new video from Katy Perry frienemy, Cobrasnake muse and musical ingenue, Sky Ferreira.

Directed by heralded photographer Cass Bird, Skye's video for "17" tells a tale of teenage rebellion via  disaffected-looking youths. Things start out delicately enough, with Sky writhing around in her bedroom, putting on lipstick, and pushing up her bra. As one does.

What's the problem? Sky's got a case of Saturday night fever, as the song and video quickly turn up the heat. Sky hits the streets and plumbs the depths of the nightlife as the song goes dark-disco.

The video calls to mind the acclaimed BBC show "Skins," in its provocative depiction of teenage life. Sky Ferreira's debut album is due out later this year. Check out the video below.

Free Song From The Young Veins

When guitarist Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker parted ways with Panic! At The Disco last year, fans cried, banks closed and flags waved at half-mast. Okay, that's not entirely true, but fans were definitely shocked and bummed -- but not for long, especially when Ross and Walker announced they would soldier on with a new musical project called The Young Veins.

Although the band's debut album won't be released until June, fans can hear what to expect from the retro rock group by listening to the song "Change," which is being offered as a free download today on the band's official Web site. (Free as in... "for no money!")

The Young Veins are currently on tour with theatrical rockers -- and recent "Buzz On" artist -- Foxy Shazam. To see a list of tour dates and download the song "Change," head over to The Young Veins' official Web site. The band's debut album comes out June 6.

Buzzworthy Obsession: Janelle Monae’s ‘Tightrope’ Video

So you think you can dance? Maybe you can, but you might want to reevaluate just how good you think you are after watching the fleet-footed Janelle Monae in her new video for "Tightrope."

Taken from her upcoming album, The Arch Android, this dazzling soul singer has us hooked on her brassy voice and fabulous footwork. It's a combination that's prompted her label boss, Diddy, to call her "the female James Brown."

In this Wendy Morgan-directed clip, Monae and some formally outfitted friends stomp and glide, flap their wings and jump on tables. Let's put it this way: Any video where the dancing is so good it makes a guest verse by Big Boi (of Outkast) seem like an afterthought is some two-stepping you have to witness.

Check out the video below and pick up Janelle Monae's new album The Arch Android on May 18.

Song You Need To Know: 3OH!3, ‘House Party’

(Credit: Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic)

The new album from 3OH!3Streets Of Gold, might not hit the streets -- get it?? -- until June 29, but we've got a sneak peek of one of the duo's new synth-fueled party jams, appropriately titled "House Party."

The song is about -- wait for it -- a house party that rappers Nathaniel Motte and Sean Foreman are looking forward to throwing at their crib. Eff the clubs 'cause these dudes want to stay home, as heard in existential lyrics like, "I'm gonna have a house party in my house/I'm gonna pour booze down my mouth/I might stay up until the AM/Yeah, I think tonight I'm just gonna stay in."

Literary ribbing aside, 3OH!3 are channeling their inner Beastie Boys for this party anthem and it kind of makes us want to do the Helen Keller and talk with our hips.

If you ask nicely, maybe the band will play "House Party" when they're out with Cobra Starship on the Too Fast For Love Tour this spring. Check 3OH!3's official Web site for tourdates.

Video Six Pack: Bands That Influenced Green Day And Bands Green Day Influenced

In honor of Green Day being our P.U.S.H. artist of the week, we thought we'd highlight some of the bands that influenced Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt -- and some of the bands the pop-punk trio has managed to influence, as well.

So let's go to the tap, shall we?

Bands That Influenced Green Day

+ The Ramones, "I Don't Wanna Grow Up"

From this iconic NYC band, frontman Billie Joe learned how to sing classic lovestruck pop songs over serrated punk-rock guitars.

+ The Clash, "London Calling"

As Green Day's music has become increasingly political, you can hear the influence of The Clash's unique brand of politi-punk.

+ The Who, "My Generation"

In order to feel comfortable on stage in arenas, the NorCal trio has surely studied the power chords and teenage-angst anthems of The Who.

Bands Influenced By Green Day

+ My Chemical Romance, "Welcome To The Black Parade"
Green Day's American Idiot was released in 2004. Two years later, My Chemical Romance released their own politically-charged concept album, The Black Parade, and also opened for their idols on tour.

Simple Plan, "Shut Up"

These Canadian pop-punkers are all about Infectious melodies, snotty vocals and turned-up-to-11 volume. Sound familiar?

Against Me, "White People For Peace"

When it comes to bringing socially-charged rockers to a mainstream audience, this new-school punk band is definitely taking their cues from Green Day's playbook.

The Buzz On: Foxy Shazam

(Credit: Sire Records)

Theatrical, dramatic, hilarious and daring, Foxy Shazam are here to put a little pomp and circumstance into your daily dose of rock 'n' roll.

Led by flamboyant singer Eric Nally (who must've come out of the womb as a kick-ass frontman), this Cincinnati sextet make audacious glam-rock-meets-prog-pop-meets-musical-theater. (Try to find that genre on iTunes.) The songs on the band's self-titled third album, which comes out April 13, recalls everything from Elton John and The Stooges to T. Rex and Queen.

Plus, the group is equally as dazzling on record, on stage (we still get choked up just thinking about how Nally likes to chow down on a pack of cigarettes during each performance) and on camera. Always one to take a risk, the band recently made headlines by previewing its new album on Chatroulette and hosting a listening party on the anything-goes chat program.

Foxy Shazam is currently on tour, and its album Foxy Shazam drops April 13. Check out the group's dazzling video for its single "Oh Lord" below.

New Video: Consequence, Featuring Asher Roth, ‘Childish Games’

Directed by the incredibly talented Rik Cordero (The Clipse's "Popular Demand (Popeyes)"), Consquence's "Childish Games" is an audio and visual throwback to the days of hip-hop yore.

Featuring a Notorious B.I.G. sample and dizzy jazz-funk loop, "Childish Games" finds Kanye West protegee Consequence rapping in a playground about the trials and tribulations of the streets, drawing parallels between thug life and the games kids play. Later in the track, Asher Roth joins in the proceedings and adds a verse about the wicked ways of the music industry.

The near-sepia tones of the video match the retro sound of the song, but make no mistake -- "Childish Games," which is taken from Cons' Movies On Demand, is a very contemporary song about some very shady dealings.

Movies On Demand is currently available. Check out the video for "Childish Games" below.

Green Day’s ‘American Idiot: The Musical’ Ready For Broadway, Hollywood Next?

(Credit: Kevin Mazur/WireImage)

Green Day may've already won a Grammys for their album American Idiot, but the band might have to prepare some new acceptance speeches if "American Idiot: The Musical" takes Broadway by storm -- fingers crossed! -- and the Tony Awards come calling. We can't think of a better way to commemorate the meeting of peroxide punks and Park Ave. Playbill holders by making Green Day our P.U.S.H. (Play Until Someone Hears) artist of the week.

Directed by Michael Mayer and starring John Gallagher, Jr., both of "Spring Awakening" fame, the "American Idiot" rock opera was first staged at California's Berkeley Rep Theater late last year and received rave reviews. During a recent interview with Playbill.com, Armstrong revealed that, at the beginning of the recording process, he had lofty goals for the concept album since the beginning of recording. " I visualized the characters in my head, and starting thinking, 'Wow, this could totally be staged ... it could be something.'"

Now that "something" has evolved into a Broadway musical. While "American Idiot: The Musical" doesn't officially open until April 20, there are already talks of Tom Hanks and his production company Playtone turning musical into a feature film a la "Mama Mia!" We had no idea Tom Hanks was so punk rock. For more deets and a trailer of "American Idiot: The Musical," follow the jump.

Is embracing the Broadway set a questionable move for one of the last big punk bands? "What makes a true artist is putting yourself out there and doing things that are dangerous and vulnerable," commented Billie Joe, in an interview to ABC News. His risk paid off at the show's first staging, as SFist.com gushed: "The cast, led by Tony-winner John Gallagher Jr., is phenomenal and the physicality they bring to the show and Steven Hoggett's punk-esque choreography deserves a lot of praise."

For a trailer of "American Idiot: The Musical," check out the video below and if you're in the New York City area, be sure to reserve your tickets when the musical opens on April 20 at the St. James Theatre. Look for more info about P.U.S.H. artist Green Day -- including an MTV interview -- and "American Idiot" throughout the week.

Might we be giving away free tickets? You'll have to come back and see!
