5 Trends We Hope Don’t Come Out Of Nicki Minaj’s ‘Massive Attack’ Video

Nicki Minaj has been one of our favorite new artists to emerge in, like, forever. We get so excited about new Nicki music that sometimes we screw up the lyrics -- and she corrects us on Twitter, which is basically the same thing as hanging out with her, right?

We L-U-V Barbie because she's a trendsetter and a strident, unique artist ... But with great style comes great responsibility. Her video for "Massive Attack," the first single off her long-awaited debut album, is bananas. For better or for worse, here are 5 trends we hope Nicki Minaj does not spawn.

Check out the video for "Massive Attack" and then consult our list below.

1.) Gratuitous Amber Rose Cameos

Amber Rose without Kanye West is like Blair without Chuck or Spencer without Heidi. In other words, it just doesn't work. While the idea of a potential new take on "Thelma & Louise" fills us with joy, Amber should definitely be used sparingly.

2.) Dudes Who Can Make Their Pecs Bounce

C'mon, son. We don't know about you, but this totally freaks us out.

3.) Double-Jointed Dancers

Elbows point towards the back, kids. Don't get it twisted -- physically speaking, of course. Please, kids, do not try that at home!

4.) Deadly & Poisonous Creatures

Nicki Minaj is one of our national treasures so let's not gamble her away by placing her next to snakes and tarantulas. That's wasteful!

5.) Sean Garrett
We are big fans of Garrett's work on Mario's "Break Up" -- one of our jams of '09 -- and other tracks, but in the face of choppers and spiders, Nicki and Amber, Birdman and gals in construction helmets, he just can't help but be the weakest link! (We say that in our best Anne Robinson voice.)

... And then there was Barbie. Nicki Minaj has released the first single, "Massive Attack," off of her untitled debut album and it's sure to ring some alarms.

For an artist so new to the game, "Massive Attack" is incredibly assured. You get the feeling -- listening to the song's air-raid keyboards and thunderous beats -- that the Young Money princess really wants to separate herself from the rap pack and carve out a space all her own.

Frankly, with her verbal dexterity, complex flow and humor, Nicki is reminiscent of classic Missy Elliot -- and that's a compliment of the highest order.

Look for the "Massive Attack" video later this week. We promise to let you know whenever we hear anything about Nicki's debut album. It's due out at some point this year.

Watch Ludacris, Nicki Minaj, Drake And Trey Songz Perform Live At MTV Spring Break

Spring Break is a time for America's students to let their hair down, bear down on a few brain cells with some responsibly consumed beverages, and generally rock out. But no matter where you celebrated your Spring Break, you really weren't doing it right, unless you were doing it with MTV.

This year, our traveling circus went down Acapulco to entertain throngs of young adults with the sounds of young America. With master of ceremonies (if not subtlety) Funkmaster Flex presiding, a bunch of great acts packed their bags and brought their music south of the border to the delight of Spring Breakers in attendance.

Below, we have the first batch of great live videos culled from MTV's Spring Break. Check out Ludacris and Nicki Minaj performing their single, "My Chick Bad," Drake taking his new song "Over" out for a test drive and Trey Songz doing a live demonstration of his "I Invented Sex."
