What The Frak!? Battlestar Galactica Gets ‘Sabotage’ Video Mash-Up Treatment

While most Battlestar Galactica nerds out there (myself included) are still a little bit blue over the show's '09 finale, this video is certainly primed to bring a smile to our faces.

Here we have a side-by-side mash-up of Battlestar clips, synced perfectly with the legendary Beastie Boys video, "Sabotage."

That Spike Jonze-directed clip was a send-up of '70s and '80s cop shows and films like T.J. Hooker and The French Connection. And in this context, with "Sabotage's" raw guitars playing and the perfectly timed editing, Battlestar looks a lot like a '70s cop show, just one set in space with tons of Vipers flying around.

The best part of this vid, undoubtedly, is the replication of the freeze-frame nickname shots from "Sabotage." In the Beastie Boys clip, the rappers play actors playing cops, with titles like "Nathan Wind as Cochese" (MCA) and "Vic Colfari as Bobby, 'The Rookie' " (Ad Rock).

The same is done for the Battlestar troupe, to hilarious effect, with characters like Gaius Baltar rechristened as "Loco" and Lee Adama as "Leemo."

BTW, for the sake of being service-y, it's worth mentioning that the Beastie Boy MCA is doing much better in his battle against cancer, and he and the group are getting back to work as they prep their album Hot Sauce for a 2010 release. Applaud that! And that you NEED to get Battlestar Galactica on DVD.
